LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- WDRB viewers have once again stepped up to help fight childhood cancer.
Tickets for this year's St. Jude Dream Home giveaway sold out in September. WDRB viewers helped to sell out the St. Jude Dream Home giveaway. 8,000 tickets were claimed.
The drawing for the St. Jude Dream Home is Thursday, Oct. 3, and will air during the 9 a.m. show on WDRB Mornings. There will be several other prizes given away too.
Each ticket offers a chance to win a four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home in La Grange, Kentucky. The money from the giveaway goes to help families of sick children at St. Jude Hospital.
Families don't get a bill for their care. Donations also support childhood cancer research. The hospital also covers the cost for travel, housing and food.
"St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases," said Ventara Massey with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "So all of those tickets you all bought is helping to support research that is going to help us, we hope put me out of a job."
Fischer Homes has partnered with St. Jude for 19 years to bring together contractors, building professionals and volunteers to construct the home. This is the fifth year that WDRB has partnered with St. Jude for the giveaway that has raised $3.4 million so far.
