LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is dead after she was hit by a motorcycle on Cane Run Road early Thursday morning.

It happened around 12:15 a.m. at the Coventry Commons intersection, according to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell. That's near Shanks Lane and S. Crums Lane. The initial investigation indicates the woman was attempting to cross the road, without a crosswalk, when she was hit by the motorcycle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The motorcycle operator was taken to UofL Health Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Mitchell said.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
