LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman died after a pickup truck hit the back of a horse-drawn carriage Monday morning in Hart County, Kentucky State Police said Tuesday morning.

KSP said troopers were called at 8:24 a.m. to the 1600 block of South Dixie Highway for an injury crash. Investigators said a horse and carriage driven by Melvin Miller, of Horse Cave, was traveling north on South Dixie Highway when it was hit from behind by a 2025 Ford F-250, also traveling north.

Sara Miller, 81, of Horse Cave, was a passenger in the carriage. She was taken by Hart County EMS to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Melvin Miller was airlifted to UofL Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Police said the truck was driven by 38-year-old John McBride, of Munfordville.

The crash remains under investigation by KSP.
