It's time for some darts and laurels.
First, a laurel to the University of Louisville women's basketball team for making it to the Sweet 16. Louisville is truly fortunate to have Jeff Walz at the helm for so many years. He brings integrity and energy to one of the most successful women's programs in the country. Jeff is also a one-man driver of the Louisville economy. Because his teams are so consistently successful, more often than not, Louisville earns the right to host the opening rounds of the tournament. That brings three other teams and their fans to Louisville to spend their money.
A dart, kind of, to the lights on River Road under I-64 downtown. Better lighting was needed, especially as the city is trying to make it safer for pedestrians down there. But some would say it's a little distracting to have them changing colors, especially to red and green. Maybe pick colors that don't look like more traffic lights.
Finally, a laurel to this time of year in Louisville. Thirty nine days until the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Derby Festival has already started, the Louisville Bats and the boys of summer open baseball season this Friday night at Slugger Field, and the Louisville Kings kickoff their inaugural season Friday night at Lynn Family stadium.
There's no reason spring has to be boring in Louisville!
I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my Point of View.
