The plant’s 8,000 full-time employees now make four electrified vehicles: Hybrid versions of the Camry, Rav4 and Avalon, as well as the Lexus ES 300h.
The auto manufacturer originally planned to idle its North American factories until March 25 to clean them in response to the coronavirus epidemic.
The Japanese automaker has extended the closure of its plants in the U.S., Mexico and Canada -- including its largest worldwide factory in Georgetown, Ky. -- for two weeks, to April 20.
