LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man is dead after crashing on the Watterson Expressway in Louisville early Sunday morning.
Louisville Metro Police responded to report of a crash on Interstate 264 East, Watterson Expressway, near Taylorsville Road about 3:15 a.m. Sunday, said department spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
The man was traveling east on Watterson Expressway at a high rate of speed when for unknown reasons lost control and hit the center concrete barrier. The car continued down the interstate, veered off and hit a sound barrier wall, coming to rest in a ditch. The man was the only person in the car, and he was not wearing a seatbelt, Ellis said.
The man was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he died.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
