It took Kentucky a little more than a month to reach 5,000-plus deaths after surpassing 4,000 deaths on Feb. 6. 

State health officials on Saturday reported 46 more deaths in which the coronavirus was a contributing factor, alongside 2,649 new cases of the respiratory virus. 

The positivity rate hit its lowest point since Jan. 2 on Friday. 

Beshear said the locations of the centers will be announced Jan. 28, when appointments will begin to be accepted.

As of Wednesday, 1,673 Kentuckians were hospitalized with COVID-19, according to a news release from the governor.
