LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville firefighters responded to a small electrical fire early Thursday morning at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The Louisville Fire Department was called to South Wing C around 3:45 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find light smoke coming from the loading dock area on the east side of the building.
Crews went inside and found a small fire that had already been extinguished. Investigators determined the fire originated near a heat press and was electrical in nature.
The fire was contained to two vendor booths and did not spread farther into the building. Two people were evaluated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation but did not need to be taken to a hospital. No firefighters were injured.
A total of 29 firefighters responded.
The building's sprinkler system was shut down after the fire, and officials issued a Notice of Hazard. On-site security and health department officials were notified of the incident.
Expo Center officials said the South Wing will open as normal Thursday morning for the Kentucky State Fair.
