Senate Bill 13, dubbed a "crisis aversion and rights retention" measure, stalled in a committee. Its sponsor says he's optimistic similar legislation will pass in the future. 

A bill that already has passed the Senate Judiciary Committee would allow retired law enforcement officers to carry firearms on school property.

The company is also asking lawmakers to consider legislation that will "strengthen background checks and remove weapons from those who have been found to pose a risk for violence."
