Councilwoman Cassie Chambers-Armstrong hosted the event at Highland Baptist Church on Cherokee Road.

The crosses created a memorial that allows those in the congregation and the public to grieve and reflect.

The church held a powerful, at times emotional, service Thursday evening to place the crosses in the ground.
