The Jefferson County Board of Education on Tuesday night quietly approved an audit plan aimed at addressing the district’s $188 million budget shortfall.
The largest school district in Kentucky is currently short $188 million, and district leaders said in mid-September that it could be forced to sell assets to meet payroll.
The school board would move its central office to the iconic "white house" campus on Gardiner Lane just off Interstate 264.

The Jefferson County Board of Education is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, March 26, and vote on a plan that would cut back transportation for students who choose to attend magnet or traditional schools and magnet programs.
The board had one more day to deal with after JCPS closed schools again Monday. It was the eighth snow day so far this year.
