The new deal calls for teachers to get a minimum $2,500 raise this year and a $1,500 raise next school year.

The repeal takes effect Friday. 

The bill would allow anyone age 18 or older to carry a handgun in public except for reasons such as having a felony conviction, facing a restraining order from a court or having a dangerous mental illness.

So-called constitutional carry laws are becoming more prominent throughout the country with 21 other states, including Kentucky, adopting similar measures.
