A man is dead after a shooting in Louisville's Parkland neighborhood.

While Louisville's overall homicide rate is improving — dropping from 93 homicides this time last year to 62 so far this year — the trend hasn’t extended to youth victims.

Last Wednesday, LMPD responded to a "person down" in the 5000 block of Poplar Level Road about 9:45 p.m. That's not far from E. Indian Trail. 

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating, but have no suspects and no arrests have been made. 

In the final five days of the year, four lives were cut short on Louisville's streets, bringing the total number of homicides in 2024 to more than 140.
