Kentuckians could be wagering on football by the time the NFL season kicks off this fall, and lawmakers who helped make it legal said that's the priority.
Several bills hang in the balance as Kentucky lawmakers push to get them passed before the legislative session ends.
House Bill 551, filed by Rep. Michael Meredith, R-19, "seeks to legalize and regulate gambling on live sporting events."
More rounds of assistance will be forthcoming, lawmakers said in responding to the December storms that devastated communities in western Kentucky and elsewhere in the state.
If approved by both the House and the state Senate, the proposed amendment will appear on ballots across the commonwealth for voters to decide.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Fayette Circuit Court by Hoover, Rep. Michael Meredith and former Rep. Jim DeCesare, claims the woman broke the terms of a confidential settlement agreement that paid her $110,000.
