Redevelopment and demolition plans for Mid City Mall were approved last week to make way for a new $60 million open-air development.

The Mid City Market project will likely feature a Publix grocery store and five retail buildings, but no residential building.

New renderings from the developer of Louisville's Mid City Mall property show a large grocery store surrounded by green space, smaller retail buildings and a lot of parking spaces. 

Wednesday marked the final day for a longtime movie theater in Louisville.

Several businesses have already closed or moved. The property has been for sale for more than a year.

In Louisville, concerns arise over the potential closure or relocation of Baxter Avenue Theatres at Mid City Mall due to redevelopment plans.

The mall on Bardstown Road is still up for sale after being listed last November.
