Since June 23, there have been 173 monkeypox cases reported by the CDC. 

Gary Health Commissioner Dr. Roland H. Walker told reporters Tuesday that the patient has been isolated and health officials have contacted others who have had close contact with the patient. 

Indiana State Health Commissioner Kris Box said the risk of the monkeypox infection spreading among the public remains "extremely low."
