Police said the suspect, whom they have not yet identified, crashed the vehicle in Columbus, Indiana, at about 6:30 a.m. Friday and then attacked the female driver.

Police said a woman was heading north in the 3800 block of Breckenridge Lane, near Heavrin Avenue, when her sport utility vehicle drifted over the centerline “for an unknown reason” and struck a passenger car before hitting a van.

A spokesperson for KSP says the department is heartbroken by the loss.

The victim's name has not been released.
