The department made headlines months ago because of a fracture between firefighters and their leader.

Oral "Bill" Banta has more than 30 years of experience in fire service, including 20 years with the Louisville Division of Fire. 

The resignation comes after complaints from plenty of firefighters.

Georgetown firefighters say a closed substation is emblematic of a larger problem at the department.

The Georgetown firefighters made that announcement in a Wednesday letter to the town's fire board.
