Joseph Oberhansley was sentenced to life without parole in 2020, more than six years after Tammy Jo Blanton was found dead in her home.
Joseph Oberhansley, who was found guilty last week of murdering his ex-girlfriend in Jeffersonville in 2014, could spend the rest of his life in prison.
He admitted that he confessed to killing Blanton near the end of a three-hour police interview, but said he did so because, "I just started going along with detectives."
According to court documents, he allegedly removed, cooked and ate some of her organs before he was arrested.
Oberhansley has maintained his innocence from the beginning, and repeated that claim before going into court Friday morning.
A jury has been seated for the second trial of a southern Indiana man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and eating parts of her body in 2014.
Authorities accuse Oberhansley of raping and killing ex-girlfriend, Tammy Jo Blanton, in 2014, and eating part of her organs.
The decision means the trial has been delayed until January or February 2020.
