UofL School of Nursing says $6.5 million gift will target access to health care in underserved areas

The school announced the gift Monday morning, which came through two federal grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
The school completed a $700,000 renovation in its nursing school, renovating and upgrading classrooms to "make UofL's School of Nursing a competitive destination for students," a news release said.
The new grant will fund initiatives in mental health awareness, youth outreach, former appreciationĀ grants and a mobile web application.
It's a second degree bachelor's program that graduates nurses in 15 months.
