The lifelong advocate for veterans worked to establish Gold Star Family memorials across the country.

The first Gold Star Monument was built in 2013 by a foundation begun by Woody Williams, the last surviving World War II Medal of Honor recipient.

There was a display of stars, stripes and chrome on the streets of Prospect Saturday afternoon for the "The Cause is Greater than I" motorcycle ride.
