Adi Schanie joined the WDRB News team as a reporter in May 2023. Born and raised in Louisville, she is honored to serve as a journalist in her hometown. She previously interned at WDRB and is thrilled to return to the newsroom that helped shape her career.
Since joining the team, Adi has covered a variety of topics. Some of her most impactful work includes her in-depth coverage of the overturn of Roe v. Wade and its impact on women carrying children with fatal conditions. She also broke a story on the state’s potential plan to demolish homes for a bypass—one homeowner credited her reporting with saving her “wonderful world.”
Adi earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Western Kentucky University's Mahurin Honors College.
As a student journalist, Adi has earned numerous awards, including NATAS Student Production Awards for Multimedia Journalism and Talent: News or Sports, The Kentucky Broadcasters Association’s News Reporter of the Year, Best Digital Journalist, and Best News Story. She also placed third in Hearst’s television feature competition.
Outside of reporting, Adi enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling. She has gone on multiple road trips across the country and explored more than ten national parks. In Louisville, she loves walking in the park, cheering on the Louisville Cardinals, and spending time with her friends, family, and dogs.
