LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bellarmine University's women's basketball coach has retired after 13 seasons.
Chancellor Dugan coached for more than 40 years, compiling more than 500 victories as a head coach at three schools. She coached the last 13 seasons at Bellarmine.
She helped lead Bellarmine to national notoriety in Division II before the Knights transitioned to Division I. In her final season, Bellarmine set new Division I records for the program with 18 wins. The Knights also won eight games in the ASUN.Â
Dugan won 189 of her 509 wins at Bellarmine. She ranks third in wins in program history.
"These past 13 years at Bellarmine have been some of the greatest in my career," Dugan said in a news release. "To win a GLVC championship in Division II and then be charged to transition to Division I and navigate those waters, they were some of the most challenging years of my career but also some of the most rewarding. And to culminate with the historic season that we had this past year was like icing on top of the cake — and all my players know I love icing."
