LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Brownstown Central entered Saturday's 2A State Championship game as the highest-scoring team in Indiana, averaging 55 points per contest in running up a 14-0 record. They exited without a point in a 7-0 title game defeat.
The Braves defense was stout throughout the contest, holding Andrean out of the end zone three times from the 1-yard line early in the fourth quarter. Brownstown drove out from there to near midfield then tried a quick kick on fourth and three that was partially blocked.
Andrean was set up in Braves territory, and they turned that into the game's only points. Brady Stovall went in from the 2-yard line with just under five minutes to go.
Brownstown Central drove to the Andrean 13-yard line before getting stopped on downs, and the 59ers ran out the clock.
It was Andrean's fourth state football title. Brownstown Central settled for a wonderful 14-1 campaign that came up just short.
