LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- You'd be hard pressed to find someone who has lived as many lives as Oldham County High School graduate Dallas Robinson.
For about the last year plus, Robinson and his horse Spits have been working together, competing in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in Steer Wrestling, which is at least the third major athletic endeavor taken on by Robinson.
Now in his early 40s, he still holds several sprinting records at Eastern Kentucky University. He is also a pretty rare Winter Olympian from Kentucky. He competed in the 2014 Sochi Olympics for the United States in both the 4-man and 2-man bobsled.
"Ever since the early 90s (U.S.) Bobsled recruited (former NFL football stars) Herschel Walker and Willie Gault," said Robinson. "That became a strategy for the United States. They said 'Hey no one grows up bobsledding, but we have a lot of phenomenal athletes that grow up big fast and strong. We need to recruit guys like that,'"
And the 6-foot-4-inch 230 pound sprinter fit the bill. He competed while also serving in the U.S. Army.
"The journey was incredible, the friendships were incredible, but four and-a-half million people from Kentucky and to be their sole representative, and to go out on the world stage, but also doing so as an active-duty Army soldier, it's really hard to put into words," said Robinson. "It's incredible for me."
As with bobsled, when Robinson, who owns a farm and several businesses around LaRue County, decided to become a horseman and steer wrestler, he went all in.
He learned from the legendary Meyer family in Texas and his ultimate goal is to someday qualify for the North American Championships, which are held every November in Louisville.
And as if he wasn't busy enough, the husband and father of a young girl is also running for Kentucky State Senator in the state's 14th District.
