LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville City FC clinched its first USL Championship Players' Shield with a 2-2 tie against the Indy Eleven on Saturday.
The Shield represents a regular season title and seals a No. 1 overall playoff seed. Jake Morris drew LouCity even with four minutes into second half stoppage time on the road.
“I don’t want them to be satisfied,” LouCity coach Danny Cruz said of his team. “This is an objective. This is something the players earned and something they should certainly be proud of — no question about that."
Amadou Dia scored in the 12th minute on an assist from Sam Gleadle for the match's opening goal. Indy Eleven tied the score late in the first half.
The game-tying goal from Morris came on an assist from Dylan Marres.
LouCity had eight shots on goal.
LouCity next plays the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Lynn Family Stadium on Oct. 12.
