LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The track is set, the stakes are high and the nation’s top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) athletes are coming to Louisville.
The second annual HBCU Indoor National Championship returns March 6–7 to the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, bringing top HBCU athletes from across the nation together for two days of elite competition.
Athletes will compete for individual and team titles in sprints, hurdles, relays and field events on the facility’s banked 200-meter indoor track.
The meet features programs including Howard University, Alabama State University, Kentucky State University, Central State University and Benedict College. Also competing are Fisk University, Harris-Stowe State University, Bluefield State University and Rust College.
Louisville’s Simmons College of Kentucky will compete on its home track.
The championship is hosted at the west Louisville venue developed by the Louisville Urban League. Organizers say the event highlights both high-level competition and the legacy of HBCU athletics while providing national exposure for student-athletes.
Tickets are available online.
