LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It won’t be March, but it’ll feel like it — South Carolina is coming to the Yum! Center in December.

Louisville will host the national runner-up in the 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the conferences and ESPN announced Thursday.

The game marks the first meeting between the teams since the 2022 Final Four, when top-ranked South Carolina defeated Louisville 72-59 in the national semifinals on its way to a national title. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 17-5.

This will be the third year of the ACC/SEC Challenge, introduced in 2023-24. Louisville is 1-1 in its previous challenge appearances, defeating Ole Miss last season and falling to Oklahoma the year before.

The matchup with South Carolina is one of three high-profile nonconference games Louisville has scheduled against SEC opponents. The Cardinals will also host rival Kentucky in the annual Battle of the Bluegrass and will face Tennessee in the Women’s Champions Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in December.

Tipoff time and TV details for the ACC/SEC Challenge game will be announced later. Louisville’s full nonconference schedule will be released in the coming weeks, with the ACC slate expected in September.
