LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Louisville men's basketball coach Pat Kelsey is working overtime to fashion a fantastic finish on college basketball's biggest turnaround this season. But next season's roster construction continues to take shape.
The latest commitment, Sananda Fru, a 6-foot-11-inch, 245-pound center from Germany, adds even more size to a roster that figures to have plenty of it next season. If the Cardinals keep Ali Khalifa, Kasean Pryor, Khani Rooths and James Scott, they'll need plenty of leg room on team flights.
Fru plays for a contender in Germany's top professional league. He is a solid scorer around the basket, can handle the ball and is good in pick-and-roll situations. Plays for Braunschweig in the Bundesliga, where he has started 17 games this season, averaging 12 points, five rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots a game while shooting 75% from the field. Fru is 21 years old and should have two seasons of eligibility once he arrives.
Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 first reported the commitment.
He's the second addition for next season's class by Kelsey, who added five-star point guard Mikel Brown last month.
Another target, 5-star forward Nate Ament, is visiting Kentucky for its game against Tennessee on Tuesday night in Rupp Arena, but Louisville and Duke are generally viewed to be the front-runners for him.
With a solid crop of potential returnees, a highly rated point guard, more depth in the post and, perhaps, the return of J'Vonne Hadley if NCAA rules on junior college eligibility continue to permit it, Louisville could be primed to keep the good vibes being created by this year's team going strong.
