LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville women's basketball assistant coach Amanda Butler is expected to be hired as the new women's basketball coach at Charleston, according to a report from On3.
Butler joined Jeff Walz's staff at Louisville in June 2024 after six seasons as the head coach at Clemson. In two seasons with the Cardinals, she helped Louisville to consistent success, including a 22-11 record, a 13-5 mark in ACC play and a run to the Sweet 16 this past season.
Butler brings extensive head coaching experience to Charleston.

Butler has compiled a 311-264 career record as a head coach with stops at Charlotte, Florida and Clemson. She has led five teams to the NCAA Tournament and earned conference coach of the year honors at both Charlotte and Clemson.
At Clemson, Butler led a dramatic turnaround in her first season in 2018-19, taking the Tigers from a 1-15 ACC record the year before to 9-7 in league play and an NCAA Tournament berth. She was named ACC Coach of the Year that season.
A native of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Butler played at Florida, where she helped lead the Gators to the first two NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. She later began her coaching career as an assistant at Florida before stops at Austin Peay and Charlotte.
Charleston hasn't yet officially announced the hire.
