Luke Hancock

Luke Hancock shouts instructions to The Ville team during the 2024 TBT event in Freedom Hall. Hancock was an assistant in 2024. He'll be the GM and head coach for The Ville in the 2025 version of the tournament.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Luke Hancock is back for The Ville — only this time, he's calling the shots, not making them.

The former Louisville star has been named head coach and general manager of the Louisville alumni team that will host a TBT regional at Freedom Hall from July 19–23.

Hancock, who played for U of L from 2012–14, has been with The Ville since its inception — suiting up in 2023 and serving as an assistant coach last summer. He now takes the reins of a roster that already features fellow Cardinal greats Montrezl Harrell and Russ Smith, the first two player commitments.

Hancock cemented his legacy in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, scoring 22 points and going 5-5 from beyond the arc in the national title game to earn Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors. After college, he briefly played professionally before pivoting to a career in financial advising, community work, and broadcasting. He has also served as a college basketball analyst for the ACC Network and hosts a show on ESPN Louisville radio.

More roster news is expected in the coming weeks. The winner of the Louisville Regional advances to TBT's quarterfinals July 29, with the $1 million championship set for Aug. 3.
