LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Basketball Tournament, a 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all summer event, announced Tuesday that Louisville's Freedom Hall will again host one of its regionals in 2024.

The regional will be hosted by TheVille, one of eight played around the nation from July 19-24.

Louisville's team will be headlined by 2013 season and longtime NBA standout Montrezl Harrell, along with Peyton Siva, who captained the 2013 team to a national championship.

Other commitments will be announced periodically on the team's X account,Ā @TBT_Louisville.

Siva, who was the first to commit for another TBT season after TheVille reached the regional championship last season, said he's looking forward to a return to Freedom Hall. The team drew 5,463 to its first tournament game last summer, the fourth-largest crowd in event history.

"Playing at Freedom Hall last year was incredibly special," said Siva. "The atmosphere really felt like a true Louisville home game. I’m very excited TBT will be returning to Louisville and I can’t wait for Cardinals fans to experience another great ride with us this summer."

The winner of the Louisville regional will advance to play the winner of the Lexington regional on July 30. A University of Kentucky alumni team, La Familia, will host a regional in Rupp Arena. That squad will be led by Eric Bledsoe.

"It was evident in 2023 that there’s a special place for Freedom Hall in the hearts of Louisville basketball fans as they filled the arena to watch The Ville compete in TBT," said David S. Beck, president & CEO of Kentucky Venues. "We’re excited to have the tournament back this summer and see iconic Freedom Hall in all its basketball glory."

Tickets for the 2024 Louisville Regional will go on sale at a later date. To be the first to secure tickets for the event, fans can sign up for TBT’s waitlist by clicking here.
