LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky and Gonzaga mutually agreed to end their men's basketball series two years early, the schools announced Wednesday.

The decision cancels the final two scheduled games of the six-year agreement, which had included matchups at Rupp Arena in the 2026-27 season and at Gonzaga's McCarthey Athletic Center in 2027-28.

According to a release from Kentucky, both programs agreed to discontinue the series in order to "reevaluate future scheduling priorities," including conference commitments and other nonconference opportunities.

The series began in Spokane in 2022 and included games in Lexington, Seattle and Nashville over the past four seasons.

The matchups often served as marquee nonconference games on each program's schedule. Last season's meeting in Nashville, a 94-59 Gonzaga victory in Nashville, was the Wildcats' most-lopsided loss since the probation-depleted team in 1990.

Kentucky said additional information regarding Kentucky's 2026-27 schedule will be announced later.
