On Friday, U.S. Transportation Cabinet Secretary Elaine Chao announced that the transportation department has $12 million dollars in funds to help repair the bridge.
KYTC Secretary Jim Gray says engineers are simultaneously working on repair plans while inspections take place.
Repairs to replace damaged concrete and steel beams must happen before traffic resumes on the bridge between Covington, Ky., and Cincinnati, officials said.
