LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With Thunder Over Louisville less than a month away, the fireworks are being prepped for the big day.
Wayne Hettinger, the producer of Thunder Over Louisville, shared on Facebook that the fireworks are being boxed and loaded for shipment to Louisville on Monday.

Thunder Over Louisville is considered the kickoff to Kentucky Derby Festival events. It's touted as one of the top fireworks displays and air shows, entertaining more than 1.5 million people each year.
This year marks the 150th Kentucky Derby, so Thunder will pay tribute to the history of the iconic race throughout the day.
Thunder Over Louisville is Saturday, April 20, 2024. The airshow and fireworks are part of the opening ceremony of the Kentucky Derby Festival. Thunder will be broadcast all day on WDRB, WDRB.com and the WDRB+ streaming app.
This year will mark the 35th year for the annual fireworks show.
