This big, empty, fenced-in lot at the intersection of Preston Street and Finzer Street was the first Hillerich bat factory in the late 1800s, foreshadowing the Louisville Slugger of today. On June 15, 2022, it was announced that the Hillerich family would donate the land to the city. (WDRB photo)
