LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo is once again celebrating the Halloween season with family fun that's cheery -- not scary -- at what's often called the world's largest Halloween party.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser gets a preview ahead of opening night on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Boo at the Zoo has been a Louisville tradition for more than four decades, as the Zoo transforms into a living storybook, complete with some of your favorite characters brought to life, making for a safe place to trick-or-treating for kids 11 and under.

This party experience is designed to give you all the merry you love -- with none of the scary.

Costumes are welcome but not required, and adults are encouraged to get in on the action as well.

Admission includes ALL Boo at the Zoo rides, attractions and parking. Enjoy a spin on the Spooktacular Carousel or get up close to real creepy crawlies at the walk-through, free-crawling “not-so-itsy-bitsy” Spider House. Hear the tale of the legendary Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow.

On Sunday, Oct. 20, the Zoo hosts sensory-friendly hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are limited, so it's best to purchase well in advance. CLICK HERE for more info.

You can begin entering Boo at the Zoo from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night, but the route remains open until 10 p.m. Tickets are $7 for Zoo members, and $13.50 for non-members. CLICK HERE to buy tickets online.
