LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The V Foundation Celebrity Bocce Tournament happens on Monday, October 6, beginning at noon at Jim Patterson Stadium.

 In its 9th, the event benefits The V Foundation for Cancer Research to fund its efforts to fight cancer in the Louisville and surrounding areas.

Since it began in 2004, the Celebrity Bocce Tournament in Louisville has raised over $300,000 for The V Foundation.

Teams and celebrities pair up to participate in a round robin tournament of bocce, the Italian version of lawn bowling.

Bob Valvano is the chairman of the Louisville V Foundation Committee.

His brother, the late Jim Valvano, whose courageous battle with cancer led to the creation of The V Foundation.

Spectators are encouraged to attend and participate in the online auction.

All proceeds benefit The V Foundation.

Jim Patterson Stadium is located at the corner of Central Avenue and Third Street.
