LOUISVILLE Ky. (WDRB) - Tis the season when some people are searching for the ugliest sweater in town. Ugly Christmas sweaters are all the rage right now! People across the nation are even hosting ugly Christmas sweater themed parties.

WDRB's Sterling Riggs did a little shopping in Louisville and southern Indiana. He reveals where shoppers can find the hip attire and how much a sweater will cost shoppers.  

Step in The Nitty Gritty on Barrett Ave in Louisville, and you'll discover a fabulous selection of Christmas sweaters.

The shop's owner Terri Burt starts collecting and making the sweaters in July. It's something she looks forward to ever year.

Burt says there are two types of sweaters, the born ugly sweater from the 80's and the altered sweater.  She sells both. Prices start at $20 and go up from there.

Southern Indiana residents can also score a sweet sweater at Mariposa Fine Consignment. The store is located on Pearl Street in New Albany.

The shop's owner Michelle Wells likes to use the word ugly loosely. She says, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."  Most of the sweaters at Mariposa were born ugly and have not been modified too much. Prices here range from $9.99 to $14.99.

Shopper Mary Mingus says she's hosting an ugly Christmas party this year because it's a lot of fun. She enjoys seeing the wild and wacky ideas people come up with. While shopping at Mariposa, Mingus found the perfect sweater for herself and a matching vest and hat for her husband.

There are plenty of other stores to find ugly Christmas sweaters in Kentuckiana, but we hope this helps people looking to buy one from a locally owned shop. Happy hunting!
