LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A person is in critical condition after a motorcyclist crashed into a truck on Westport Road Friday night.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Westport Road and Interstate 265 around 9:15 p.m.

According to police, a Ford F150 was trying to make a left turn from Westport Road to I-265 southbound and turned into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist couldn't get out of the way in time and crashed into the truck. Police said the driver of the truck failed to render aid then fled the scene on foot. Officers were unable to find the driver after a "lengthy search" in the area.

According to police, the motorcyclist and passenger, who are both adults, were taken to UofL Hospital. The passenger is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and the driver has non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
