LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was shot and killed near Louisville's Newburg neighborhood early Saturday morning.

Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police, said officers responded to the 5500 block of Lodema Way just before 4 a.m. on a reported shooting.

Police found a man inside an apartment with a gunshot wound. According to Ellis, he died on the scene.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 48-year-old Mitchale Groves.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating but police said all parties are believed to be accounted for.
