2025 was a really busy year weather wise for our area this year. We had a bunch of weather extremes and specific events, all covered by the Top 5 Weather Events for Kentuckiana that the weather team created.
Other than specific events, what about our temperatures and rainfall? How did we end up by the end of the year?
Precip
The wettest day of 2025 was actually during the Fall, not the Spring like many of you may be thinking. It was on October 7th, when we received 4.22" of rain in ONE DAY! The big time flooding we saw back in April was due to multiple days of multiple inches of rain, not all at once like this day was.
The snowiest day of 2025, which you can probably guess, was back on January 5th of last year, when 9.5" of snow fell, with an additional 1.5" the day after. That was the #1 weather event of 2025 in our story that is linked above.
2025 total rainfall came in a good amount above normal. We ended up seeing 54.59" of rain on the year! That's around 6.25" above where we normally end up. In fact, 2025 was the wettest year in Louisville since 2018, which was the wettest year on record in Louisville.
Temperatures
We of course saw temperatures across the board in extremes in both directions through the year.
The coldest temperature we saw in our area was back on January 22nd of last year when we dropped down to 4 degrees! We almost did it again just a few weeks ago in mid-December when we dropped down to 5 degrees.
The warmest temperature we saw actually happened twice and on back to back days. We hit 97 degrees on June 24th and on June 25th, making them the hottest days of the Summer.
