Drought conditions still exist across much of our region, but they haven't increased much over the last week because of some beneficial rain we're received recently. The unfortunate things is that a majority of the heavy rain has fallen in the northern half of our area, and that's where we needed it the least.

Rain chances over the next 5 days could bring substantial amounts of rainfall, particularly Friday night into Saturday morning; however, most of it will fall in places that don't need as much rain, such as Central and Southern Indiana.

A quick look at the picture below makes it seem like it could be a weekend washout. Fortunately, that is not the case. Most of the heavy rain falls Friday evening well after sunset and likely after midnight. This could last until just after sunrise Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon and evening will be bone dry. Sunday is likely dry through the lunch hour, but showers and some storms should return in the afternoon and evening and stick around overnight for some. With that in mind, outdoor Mother's Day plans could be interrupted on Sunday. After a brief break on Monday, additional rain chances return heading into the middle of next week.
