LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Late comedienne Gilda Radner is being remembered next week - not only for her comedic achievements but how she has changed lives.

Radner, who died at 42 from cancer in 1989, was renowned for “SNL” characters like her broadcaster Roseanne Roseannadanna. “
"Community is Stronger than Cancer" event will take place Saturday, June 28 - on what would have been Radner's birthday. It's a celebration of those who are living with the disease.
Karen Morrison is the president of Gilda's Club Kentuckiana.
"Gilda Radner believed that cancer was the most unfunny thing she'd ever experienced, but she felt like laughter beat the alternative and that sometimes even though cancer is really tough to live with, how you live with it is your choice," Morrison said.
The free event is next Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the region's cancer support headquarters on 2440 Grinstead Drive. There will be food and drink along with games, prizes and resources. You can register at or call 502-583-0075.
