LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Derby Museum's newest exhibit exploring the fashion of the Derby is now open.
The Derby Fashion exhibit features both historical pieces and modern-day clothing worn by racegoers for more than 150 years.
The museum's CEO said the exhibit helps bring the "race day experience" to life. There are dozens of pieces on display and more than 150 items digitally-archived on interactive touchscreens.
"Especially within the past decade, the museum has been intentional about creating that Derby Day feeling every day," Patrick Armstrong, president and CEO of the Kentucky Derby Museum, said in a news release Thursday. "This exhibit helps bring that experience to life and it deserves a permanent place in the museum."
Guests can expect to see frilly boas, rose-covered dresses and unique Derby hats.Â
Museum officials said several outfits from the historic 150th Kentucky Derby are on display, but the fashion collection at the museum "runs deep," all the way back to the first days at the track in the 1870s.Â
The fashion exhibit will be a permanent display in the museum. It's located on the first floor, right outside the Great Hall.
