LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Multiple JCPS board members are not seeking re-election this November after state lawmakers redrew district boundaries and reduced the board size.
Under SB 4, all JCPS board seats will be up for election this November — regardless of when members were last elected. The law also reduces the board from seven members to five and redraws board districts for the 2026 election.
So far, two current board members have confirmed plans to seek re-election.
Gail Logan Strange said she plans to run again. Taylor Everett also confirmed he will seek another term.
Meanwhile, Tricia Lister said she will not run for re-election. Lister said the newly drawn district boundaries place her in the same district as Logan Strange and she did not want to run against her.
Members James Craig and Linda Duncan also said they do not plan to seek re-election.
Temporary district assignments were made at a May 12 board meeting to satisfy the newly-drawn districts.
- District 1: Lister
- District 2: Corrie Shull
- District 3: Craig
- District 4: Trevin Bass
- District 5: Strange
Everett and Duncan are in at-large positions on the board, meaning they do not represent a specific district.
Winners in Districts 4 and 5 will serve two-year terms, while winners in Districts 1, 2 and 3 will serve four-year terms. Those members will take office in January 2027.
Trevin Bass and Board Chair Corrie Shull did not immediately respond to requests for comment on their election status.
