LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Kingdom is honoring the military and first responders this weekend.
The Louisville theme park is once again hosting its Hometown Heroes Weekend. The two-day event is dedicated to first responders, including, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, healthcare workers, and military (including active duty, veterans and retirees).Â
First responders will receive free admission to the park for themselves and up to three guests on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7 during normal park hours. The park is open weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This event is always held around the anniversary of 9/11.
"It's really just about honoring the people who get our community running and really support our community in terms of all the way from medical staff to military and just recognizing the importance of those roles," Kentucky Kingdom's Logan Sanderson said in previous WDRB reporting.
First responders can register for tickets online in advance or redeem day of at the season pass processing center with a work ID to receive complimentary admission tickets. If registering online, participants will be required to submit a work ID digitally.
