LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A chiropractic office in Louisville will give away bicycle helmets this week.
Lowe Chiropractic & Wellness will host a kids fair and bike helmet giveaway for Brain Injury Awareness Month. The free event is intended to prevent head injuries.
According to a news release Monday, 88% of bike-related head trauma can be avoided by wearing a helmet. Bike helmet use among children between the ages of 4 to 15 years old prevent up to 45,000 head injuries every year. People who aren't wearing a helmet are 14 times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than helmeted riders.
Dr. Patrick Lowe, owner of Lowe Chiropractic & Wellness, said 12 million children are bike riders in the U.S. He wants to reduce preventable injuries.Â
