LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā A senior at Louisville's St. Xavier High school is paying it forward to help others in the community, all in honor of his mom.
DyLon Boone launched the nonprofit organization Touch of Terra, in memory of his mom, Terra, who died unexpectedly in January 2024.
āI wanted to continue the legacy of giving that my mother left behind," Boone said in a release. "She always kept backpacks with seasonal items in the car and gave them out to people in need."
The organization's first project was assembling 500 ready-to go backpacks for homeless people in Louisville. Volunteers gathered Sunday at St. X to put the bags together, filled with essentials like hygiene and clothing.Ā
To date, Boone has raised more than $12,000 for his nonprofit.Ā
The backpacks will be distributed to Wayside Christian Mission on Thanksgiving Day.
