LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville celebrated a major renovation at a historic hub for community resources.

Jefferson County Public Schools and Neighborhood Place cut the ribbon Tuesday on the newly-renovated First Neighborhood Place.

"The Neighborhood Place and all our Neighborhood Places really represent the best of what our city is all about," Mayor Craig Greenberg said.

Located at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, the site was the first Neighborhood Place to open in Louisville in 1993.

"Here we can propel students forward. We can propel families forward," JCPS Superintendent Brian Yearwood said. "And, as I was learning more, 1,000 families per day are being touched here."

There are now eight Neighborhood Place locations across Louisville, connecting neighbors to vital services.
